We have this week implemented a service where parents and carers will receive an SMS message alerting them to the fact that their child is absent or late that particular day. This will require parents/carers to reply with a reason for this absence. In light of recent incidents in the wider Newcastle community where students have been placed at significant risk on journeys to and from school, we feel that this is another way we can improve our systems to keep our beautiful students safe.
